The fifth in the series of instrumental albums. The intention was to create a collection of short slow tracks, no beat and with little conventional harmony. This was partly as a contrast to the previous few months working on songs. The tracks were recorded in the coldest part of winter and feature such things as crunching ice, freezing rivers and the interior of a cold car. The exception is The Sad Hen, the sole summer piece. The field recordings served as the background to layers of live playing – there is little editing afterwards. The remaining tracks were recorded in the same spirit but without any environmental sound.
